Stable Rules & Guidelines
around the stable
- Horse Crossing: Drive slowly on the driveway and around the property. Do not exceed 5 mph.
- NO videoing on the property, this includes people, horses or instruction without prior written permission.
- No outside pets allowed.
- No running, yelling, or “horsing around” in or near the barn.
- No drugs, smoking, or alcohol permitted on the premises.
- Walk at all times in and around the barn area.
- Keep cellular phones on vibrate while in and around the barn.
- No umbrellas or strollers in or around areas visible to horses.
- Respect toward others is expected and always enforced.
- Inappropriate language is not tolerated.
- To prevent distractions and ensure safety, friends and family are not permitted in the stable area without permission.
- Students under 18 must remain supervised.
- If a parent/guardian leaves during a lesson, prior arrangements must be made with the stable.
- Children without supervision may incur an additional fee.
- Do not feed, pet, or enter any stalls without permission.
- Do not interrupt lessons while they are in session.
- Destructive behavior toward horses, people, or property (verbal or physical) will result in dismissal.
- All members must help keep the facility clean and maintained.
- No Graffiti, vandalism, or any destruction of property is strictly prohibited.
- Owners/Lessees: Use an alternate ring during lessons, or unless permission is granted.
horsemanship guidelines
- Speak quietly, handle gently, and avoid sudden movements.
- Horses come first. Always treat horses and tack with respect.
- Always speak to a horse before approaching.
- Never stand or walk directly behind a horse.
- Use common sense when working with animals.
- Return all equipment to its proper place before leaving.
- Proper riding attire is required:
– Riding boots with hard toe and heel
– Approved riding helmet with secured strap
– No sandals or open-toe shoes permitted in the barn. - Always check your girth before mounting.
- Always use a lead rope when walking your horse.
- Walk beside the horse (near side), never directly in front.
- Hand-feed treats with a flat hand.
- Use both cross ties when tacking or untacking in a stall or aisle.
- Strive for excellence in horse turnout, stable management, tack care, and overall cleanliness.
after riding expectations
- Cool down horses by walking them after your lesson and before returning to the barn.
- Wash horses and allow them to graze until they are fully dry and/or toweled off.
- Horses put away dirty or hot may result in student suspension.
- Clean all tack after riding and return it to the proper place in the tack room.
- Dry horses’ feet thoroughly after washing.
- Pick horses’ feet after every lesson.
- The last student to ride the horse must insure hooves are clean and apply hoof dressing.
